A costly new year Eve

2010 was beckoning and myself along with a few of my friends planned have a New year eve dinner. What started as a plan for 10 people ended with only 3 people going out for dinner. Myself, Hari and Ju went to a restaurent inside Chola Sherton called Peshawari. A $100per head(You need to pay extra if the bill exceeded $300We started off with mouth watering starters, Delicious rotis followed by some biriyani and Pulav. We got our taste buds pampered nicely, but the dessert was a total disappoinment. Ganesh ordered Rasamalai and I ordered Kulfi. Each costing a whopping $30but not even worth $3Thanks to our dessets the bill overshot the expected $450And each ended up paying roughly 150$ more than what we intended. What started as an amazing dinner ended up as a disappointment.

Health Tips - Part 1

The lazy, but quick way of doing things has had a major impact on our lifestyle. There has been an exponential increase in number of people affected by various killer diseases like diabetes, cardiac disorders etc. The best way to combat these threats is to stay healthy. Below are a few things which have helped a long way in achieving my health goals.
Watch what you eat:
The temptation, to munch a packet of chips while watching TV, drink sodas when you feel bored during the nights, replace a regular lunch/dinner with pizza or burger....... the list goes on, needs to be brought under control. Going on a eating spree filling your stomach with high carbs low nutrition food can result in unexpected weight gain, which in turn can lead to obesity issues. Replace your high carb, fried/oily snacks with something healthy. Roasted nuts, Dhal(Either use less oil or use microwave for light roasting) can be ideal replacements. You can drink buttermilk, coconut water and fresh fruit juices instead of carbonated sodas.
Exercise regularly
The exercise you do complements your healthy diet. The type of exercise you indulge in is left to your choice. I generally prefer light jogging and walking for around half an hour in the mornings or evenings and indulge myself in sporting activities like TT and cricket. Even Simple things like walking to the nearby store to get the grocery, instead of using a car or motorbike, can contribute to a healthy lifestyle. Make sure that you exercise regularly around 20 minutes a day. Stop giving "tight schedules", "no time" as excuses to skip your exercise regimen, you can always squeeze in 20 minutes however busy you may be... Exercising i believe needs some commitment.
Until my next post
Adieu

Will the world end by 2012??

There has been loads of discussions about a huge deluge and a end of the world by December 2012. There is also a film slated to be released by the end of 2009 named "2012" which is based on the end of the world. The initial stills of the film suggests how the destruction is pictured in the film. There was also a feature in History channel which discussed about the end of the world by December 2012. Various sources, it is said, have predicted the end of world by 2012. The foremost among them being the end of Mayan Calendar by 2012. Mayan calendar has predicted most of the astronomical events to a great level of accuracy till now and the very fact that it ends by same date of the doomsday has raised many eyebrows. The current Mayan leader has rubbished the doomsday in a recent interview. There has also been widespread speculations saying that December 21 2012 may not be the doomsday as such but it is the beginning of something significant. To find answers for all these speculations, there is no other go but to wait till December 21, 2012, by then everything will be clear. Or will it be??

Raw vs smackdown

Right from my childhood, I liked to watch wrestling. Most of the time, I play only raw vs smackdown 2009 on my PlayStation 2 console. Though WWE is scripted, its fun to watch as it provides great entertainment. Raw vs smackdown 2009 seems to have implemented the game in a more realistic fashion. I also read in many gaming review sites that raw vs smackdown 2010 is all set to hit the market early next year. I also heard that there are several advancements in that game. There seems to be more camera angles, more players in every rooster, separate story line for each wrestlers in story modes and several unlockables. This game has so my plus even before its release. I just can't wait to play it.

Disability confined?

For quite sometime now, this question has been ringing in my mind. I thought the best way to get to know the answer to this question is by writing a blog post about it and to get the comments of the readers. Does disability refer to only the physically challenged alone? If the answer is yes, isn't the entire human race mentally disabled? If the answer is no, in what aspects are the rest of the human race disabled? Give it a deep thought and let me know what you think. The best way to gain knowledge is by sharing it. So enlighten me.

Pole Shift

Many scientists say that earth will witness a polar shift in about four to five years from now. Recent discoveries have brought to light that earth witnessed a pole shift approximately 800 million years ago. Scientists say that 800 million years ago, earth's north pole was located somewhere in the pacific. But none of the scientists are sure about the effects of such a pole shift. I guess only time will answer that question.

Cell phone misplayed

The incident that I'm about to pen down is probably the most hilarious moment of my life. I still can't stop laughing when I think about this incident. One day about a year ago, I found my cell phone missing. I searched for it in all the regular places I keep my cell phone in. All my searching went in vain as I was unable to find my cell phone. After about three hours of searching, I finally decided to give up my search. I concluded that my cell phone was lost. The next day, I found my cell phone in one of the most absurd places you can think of. I found my cell phone inside my soap box. I had accidentally placed my cell phone in it the previous day after taking bath! Silly me.
